Skydiving First Time Essential Information for Beginners Before Your First Jump

Deciding to go Skydiving First Time or making your first skydive is an exciting prospect, but good preparation will ensure your experience is smooth and unforgettable. At Dropzone Thailand, we want you to feel confident and ready for this adventure. Here are essential things you shouldn’t overlook.

Important Things to Know for Your Skydiving First Time:

  1. Health and Physical Restrictions:
    • Age: Jumpers must be at least 18 years old (on the day of the jump).
    • Weight: There are generally weight restrictions for safety and equipment performance. Typically, the limit is around 90-100 kg (please check with the Dropzone directly for precise requirements).
    • Health: You must not have any serious underlying medical conditions that could be dangerous for skydiving, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, lung disease, uncontrolled diabetes, epilepsy, or problems with bones and joints (especially neck and back). Consult a doctor if you have any health concerns.
    • Pregnancy: Pregnant women are not permitted to skydive.
    • Diving: If you’ve recently scuba dived, you should wait at least 24 hours before skydiving to avoid decompression sickness.
  2. Preparation Before the Jump Day:
    • Get Enough Rest: A well-rested body will help you enjoy the activity to the fullest.
    • Eat a Light Meal: You shouldn’t fast, but also avoid eating too much. Opt for easily digestible, energy-providing food.
    • Avoid Alcohol/Drugs: Do not consume alcohol or recreational drugs at least 8 hours before your skydive.
    • Relax: Feeling excited is normal, but try to relax and trust your instructor.
  3. Appropriate Attire:
    • Clothes: Wear comfortable and secure clothing, such as a t-shirt and flexible shorts/long pants (avoid thick jeans or clothing with large metal zippers/buttons).
    • Shoes: Wear athletic shoes or secure, close-toed footwear (e.g., running shoes). No flip-flops, high heels, or shoes with hooks.
    • Glasses: If you wear prescription glasses or contact lenses, you can keep them on; protective goggles will be worn over them.
  4. Listen Carefully to Your Instructor’s Briefing: Upon arrival at the Dropzone, you will receive a brief ground training. The instructor will explain the correct body positions during the jump, freefall, and landing. The most important thing is to listen attentively and follow all instructions.
